John Greenwood

John Greenwood Compliance Consultant

John has proven to be a forward-thinking payments and personal data compliance subject matter expert with strong programme delivery focus. Working predominantly in the large-scale customer contact programmes since 1992 and specialising in PCI DSS compliance since 2011 to help consumer centric organisations reduce time, risk and cost in achieving and maintaining payments compliance.

In 2012/13 John was the project principle on the world’s first PCI DSS project that allowed a large retail merchant to be the first to have a no card data environment but still have access to legacy information. The award-winning Shop Direct case study has been the prime example, globally, of how retail estates can be effectively de-risked by reducing PCI DSS scope from 11 of the 12 PCI DSS Requirements and thus reducing the cost of compliance.

Prior to this John was very much part of the beginnings of the contact centre industry and the early consumer adoption of payment cards. In 1993 he was part of the team supporting the launch of RBS’s first payments cards and in 1995 led the team enabling the automation of payment card activation for American Express.

Outside the card payments business John led the customer service launch of home shopping for Sainsbury, delivered the pan-European ecommerce launch for Playstation II and in 2,000 set up Europe’s first dedicated contact centre working exclusively on supporting customers via webchat.
